Not sure where to place Scan/Hold

Post by wangagat »

Hi everyone,

Super happy with my edrumin as everyone is it seems. I am having trouble dialing in my yamaha XP pads though. The manual isn't very clear about where in the transients the scan time should end, is it at the beginning of the highest speak, at the end of it or somewhere in between. Similarly with hold Im not sure where to line it up.

When I double click on either of them it seems to auto-adjust to something, but those settings definitely dont produce an natural feeling triggering.

Could someone help out with the screenshots and tell me if the ranges seem correct?

Make sure the HOLD covers any late spikes. There's a bump around 2ms and another around 4ms. If you chose a SCAN of 2ms to only catch that first bump, you'll need to turn up the gain. It also looks like you could tighten up the decay a little bit.

thanks Rob,

what I meant was for any given spike, do I end the scan/hold zone at the starting foot of the spike. at the apex or at the end foot (hope that makes sense)

Also, when you say I should cover any late spikes, is that only if there are "taller" spikes than the first, or for "shorter" ones, or both?

Thanks again,

The HOLD control must cover any late tall spikes. If it doesn't you'll get double triggering. As for the scan time, you'll want to scan up the end of the first bump and you might get better results by scanning to the second one. When you say you are having troubles getting it dialed in, what do you mean exactly? What sort of issues are you having?
