A question about piezo's

Post by TM Audio »

Firstly, very happy to be a part of this forum. I come from a time of the Dynacord P20 and DDrum4.. I must say working with e-drums these days is just fantastic compared to some results in years past.

I have a piezo query, cause I'm going to start messing.. again with some DIY triggering.

I can see that the most popular sizes for piezo's are 27mm and 35 mm but does capacitance/impedance or resonant frequency have much/any bearing on their use for edrum triggering.

A lot of the aftermarket suppliers of piezo's include this information, does it have any bearing on their use as triggers?

Thanks all!

I'm sure it does have some effect. I would search to figure out what Roland and the likes use, and try to find something similar to that.

There is a huge diference in sensitivity with diferent sized piezos. 35mm is alot more sensitive than smaller sizes. Whitin eDrumin you can use less gain . Ofcourse its determinated by ceramic size, not the brass diameter of piezo.
