Velocity Note Splitting

Post by arj.c.masters »

Hi,

Is there any way, in stereo mode, for the snare drum to have a separate note output below a certain velocity? This would be the last thing that solves my mapping!

For example:

Velocity 1 - 40 = Note E1

Velocity 41 - 127 = Note D1

Not at the moment. It's something I've thought about implementing but haven't gotten around to doing. Maybe for the next version.

That’s brilliant that it’s on your list to implement. This will literally solve the only issue I have with being able to trigger snare edge samples at a lower velocity.

I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next version!

this feature would be much appreciated. I have an old octapad that allows one to do this and it is great. The octapad has 3 velocity zones that can each take a different note.

The hardest part of this feature is implementing it in the UI. What do you think of the mock-up I drew. Is it intuitive?

I would move the channel control into options. And from options you could switch from using note banks to using levels.

Looks usable but can't really tell without trying it out. Will there be a way to set the velocity range for each of the 3 sections? Looks like you have little colored marks on the right that could be dragged up or down is that right? Might be useful to be able to type in the velocity transitions also. Would each section have it's own velocity curve? Looks like there is only one curve that runs through all sections?
Also if you select levels does that mean you can't use banks? I am looking forward to trying this out! thanks for all your work in developing edrumin to be the best it can be. This kind of support is unheard of these days!!!

Yes.

Only one curve for each articulation. Adding more would just take way too many device resources.

That's correct. I would have to in order to keep the memory usage down. In fact, I might end up only having two levels per articulation to make things more manageable.
