Using iOS device to control EDI on a Mac?

Post by i420piate »

I'm following the manual to the best of my knowledge. I have a Surge module and EDI4 connected to the EDI8 host port and then to my Mac. The manual makes it sound like it should auto-detect the eDRUMin over the network, I only see plug-in your eDRUMin. I have an old iPad Mini 2 and thought maybe iOS on it was too old, but I tried it on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and had the same issue.

So is the iOS control app just for plugging an eDRUMin and pads into an iDevice for Garage Band, etc. Or can it control the app on a remote Mac? I'm confused.
Alesis Surge w/ 5 tom pads, an A2E kids 16" kick, 6 Alesis 10" 1-zone w/ choke cymbals, Lemon 12" 2-zone 2pc hihat, and a 15" 3-zone ride into an EDI8+EDI4+Surge module using SD3/SSD5.5 in Logic on a Mid-2015 MBP with Mac OS Sequoia.

AFAIK apple broke Live Routings some time after Catalina. They've recently acknowledged there's a bug, but it's hard to guess when it'll get fixed if ever.

Thanks for letting me know Rob. Can the Control app be used on an iPad with Sidecar in Mac OS? Like a second screen with touch capability? I'm considering buying the cheapest/oldest iPad with iOS that supports Sidecar. the iPad Mini 2 I have is too old of a version of iOS, but don't wanna spend the money if it won't work. I'm also open to any other suggestions.
