Two 3-zones using 3 inputs instead of 4?

but before I place my order for an eDRUMin10 I wanted to confirm: the manual says to plug the bell input below the input for the edge/bow - but if I want to hook another 3-zone cymbal up, can I use a splitter and plug the second cymbal bell in to the same input as the first 3-zone? This would use 1 less input and give me room for one extra trigger (using Lemon cymbals)

The short answer is no. Only the 'ring' connection of any eDRUMin input is able to process switches. So while you can split the bell input, only the ring connection is able to process a switch. You would have to connect a single zone pad (like a kick or perhaps a tom) to the tip. Also it's worth pointing out that you would need to use multiple splitter or make a custom splitter in order to combine the ring signal from your 3-zone cymbal with the tip signal from another pad (a normal splitter always combines tip signals from both pads).

Does that mean, wiring customization notwithstanding, that I could do something like have two Lemon 3-way symbols plugged in to 4 jacks, but then split in a piezo/piezo tom such as a PD-85 or PD-105 across the two jacks servicing the bell switches? Would that be perceived as two mono drums or can those be combined in to a single one so you can do a rimshot?

Not quite. It means wiring customization notwithstanding, you can connect two 3-Zone cymbals, and two other pads to 4 inputs on an eDRUMin. The 'other' pads will only have their tip connections processed, If those pads are PD-85 or PD-105, you can use 'edge sense' to get two articulations from them (hits on the head and hits on the rim, but not rimshots).
