I think this might be a bit of a noob question to ask, but im not sure why I cant hear any sound from my Roland TD-17KVX in eDrumin or in Addictive Drums 2 after I inserted all the module leads into the eDrumin module.
My set up is as follows;
1. Roland TD-17KVX turned on.
2. All drum pad + crash leads plugged in the TD-17KVX module going into eDrumin, with MIDI OUT cable going into MIDI IN in Audio Interface.
3. USB cable going from eDrumin into MacBook Pro.
I have attached a screenshot showing that eDrumin is recognised in Addictive Drums 2, but I can't hear any sound when I hit the pads.
Any help would be really appreciated. I'm sure I have probably missed something obvious here...
Thanks

Re: Why can't I hear anything?
Because that's not how it works.
Since the TD17 does not have MIDI in, you should try this:
1) Pads/triggers you want to control with the app plugged into the eDRUMin.
2) eDRUMin USB cable to MBP.
3) Other pads/triggers plugged into the TD17.
4) TD17 USB to MBP.
5) UMC404 USB to MBP.
6) select both the eDRUMin and the TD17 in Addictive as MIDI devices.
7) select the UMC404 as audio output. Make sure that 1 and 2 are the outputs you need (if using headphones, it might not be 1-2)
Alternatively, you could go:
4) TD17 MIDI out to UMC404 MIDI in.
6) select eDRUMin and UMC404 as MIDI devices.
This way you can control all the pads you need more control within the eDRUMin app.
And, may I suggest... Rob spent a long time writing the manual. It covers everything, and it covers it nicely. Well worth the read.

Hi Tommyq,
Did you make any progress? You didn't mention if you were using an ED4 or an ED10.

Re: Why can't I hear anything?
Hi guys, many thanks for getting back to me, I tried this method, but it still doesn't play the sound of the pads:
1) Pads/triggers you want to control with the app plugged into the eDRUMin.
2) eDRUMin USB cable to MBP.
3) Other pads/triggers plugged into the TD17.
4) TD17 MIDI out to UMC404 MIDI in.

6) select eDRUMin and UMC404 as MIDI devices
7) select the UMC404 as audio output. Make sure that 1 and 2 are the outputs you need (if using headphones, it might not be 1-2)
Whenever I plug in the USB from eDrumin to MBP I hear the kick sound played a few times in my headphones, but after that there is no sound from the pads?
I am using ED10, I have attached a photo of my eDrumin module just to know if I have the correct cables in etc.
Thanks

Re: Why can't I hear anything?
The picture and description looks correct. BTW you can connect the TD-17 to the eDRUMin 10 via on a USB B cable to the USB host port of eDRUMin 10 or a 5 pin MIDI cable. You do not need to use the audio interface. Using this method will allow the eDRUMin to do xtalk cancellation.
I am not an addictive drums user, but I notice there is a test button next to the audio set up? Did you try the test button to see if your audio interface is working correctly?
Another suggestion is to ensure the midi channel from the devices and the VST match.

Re: Why can't I hear anything?
The TD17 does not have MIDI out.
Maybe go slowly and try one at a time.
So, the TD17 to the UMC404, UMC404 USB to MBP, select UMC404 as audio output... do you get AD2 sounds from the pads?
Now, take out the TD17, connect eDRUMin 10 to USB MBP. Select the UMC404 as audio ...do you get AD2 sounds from the pads?
Trying to find out where the bug is... should be simple, it was for me. Just connect, select and play!

Re: Why can't I hear anything?
This is the picture you are looking for minus the USB hub and the ED4. Plug the TD17 directly into the ED10 Host port and then ED10 to the computer. Then it is computer to the UMC404 interface. Select the ED10 as MIDI input in AD and UMC404 as MIDI Output. You may need a MIDI 5 pin to USB A adapter.
Re: Why can't I hear anything?
Hard to say what the issue is. What do you have plugged into the pedal inputs? Could you be having a MIDI feedback loop? As others have suggested, I would start by eliminated variable. Maybe start with a single pad plugged into the eDRUMin and see if the issue persists.
Re: Why can't I hear anything?
1. TD17 all cables going directly from TD17 Module into eDrumin 10
2. TD17 MIDI out going directly to UMC404 MIDI IN
3. USB from eDrumin 10 directly into MBP
4. USB from UMC404 directly into MPB
5. Headphones plugged into UMC404
6. AD2 and eDrumin both open and same selection used as photo above with both UMC404 and eDrumin selected.
7. I can hear the sound when I click on "Test" and can hear all drum hits in AD2 when clicking on them with MBP, but nothing from any of the pads.
@Mylo. I will try this method but I will have to order another USB cable for that.
Really appreciate your help guys, its beyond frustrating. I've only had time now to get this to work.
I eager to get playing again!

Re: Why can't I hear anything?
So, from the MBP to the headphones, it is working.
Looks like the MBP is not receiving the eDRUMin MIDI. So, I would look into that section of the chain.
Open the AUDIO MIDI Setup located in the Utilities, and see what's happening from there.
