HI-Hat controller upgrade

Post by KSJM89 »

Hey all,

Managed to secure myself a ED10 from a friend :D I currently have a RHH 135 and understand it can be used but with the limited positions.

I want to upgrade to get the best out of my new ED10, what are people recommendations? Ideally mountable to a HH stand and as a bonus the ability to use my spare PCY135 as the cymbal.

Go Edrum is an obvious choice, question is will I need the Yamaha variant if using the PCY145 or will the standard GHC model be fine?

Looking forward to the replies.

I’ve tried a VH-10,VH-7, ATV adH14, and FD-9. The FD-9 provides the best workable/usable range to work from to dial in the eDRUMin optimally. Mechanical separation of the cymbal from the pedal also gives the best pedal articulation IMHO.

Noted, I assume the PCY135 pad will partner just fine?

Will have to consider that, will require some thought to mount a pad as I'm using a Pearl Icon Rack with no wings. Thanks for the reply 👍🏻

It’s interesting…I was using a very cheap millenium hi hat pad with a built in controller and I found it was missing strikes quite often here and there.
I thought it was the pad so I was messing about swapping it for my goedrum (alesis wiring config) and my alesis cymbal pad instead to see if it had the same issues. It didn’t but it was just clunky and didn’t fit too well. It also span like a bitch to where it was unplayable.
I switched the pad to the millenium again but this time using the goedrum controller and boom.
It’s amazing how much more responsive the pad is now I’m not using the built in controller.
Iv no idea why this would make a difference but hey ho.
