eDRUMin to Alesis Strike module

Luke from the eDrum Workshop did a video on the eDRUMin and said that you can use it as a stand alone unit and go straight into a module (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3S0IMYA1Zo&t=123s). Can anyone confirm that the eDRUMin works with the Alesis Strike module? If it does work, do you have to use two midi cables or does it work with a USB cable? There will be times when I want to dial in all of my triggers using the eDRUMin and then connect it to the Strike Module for the sounds. I don't have a Strike module and don't want to buy one unless this is possible.
