Fedex hidden cost in Chile

Post by droig »

Hi!

I bought an edrumin10, and I don't know about other countries, but in Chile, Fedex is charging me almost the same amount of the shipping price paid here as an item called "Terminal Charges" (this is a literal translation) in my Fedex invoice. So, finally I'm paying (without the edrumin itself) like 80 + "74" + import duties + taxes. Those 74 USD are "Terminal Charges" and I wasn't aware of that.... has someone the same experience with Fedex? if no.... well... be aware of this.

Yes, I ordered 2 units and FedEx have stung me for £80 VAT & disbursement charge to get my package through UK customs. FedEx’s paperwork says the item was imported into the EU so incurs charges. As far as I know the UK left the EU….but there you go. However, there will always be VAT payable on imports to the UK, also known as ‘input tax’. These units are dispatched from Taiwan and how much you pay on import depends on the 2 country’s reciprocal trade deal with each other. Some countries have trade deals where they agree not to charge import tariffs on each other’s goods. If they don’t have a reciprocal trade deal, they default to WTO rules.

Same case for Mexico. FEDEX processed it quickly, but they still charged me around 60 USD of taxes.
