So I said before you don’t need to put the box exactly above the sensor but I think it gives better result if you put the box as forward as you can so the end of the reflection plate covers the sensor lights completely, if your plate is too big for it you can bend it so it goes down exactly on the lights.

And yeah, this thing is super sensitive to sunlight changes so if you play in front of a window with the sunlight exactly hitting the floor you’ll need to close the curtains during the day… for me it’s between 10:30 and 12:00 and from 3:30 to 4:30 when the sun reflects in my neighbors front windows…

So it didn't take long for me to realize that what I needed to stabilize the cymbal in the closed position was.... a bottom cymbal.
I used a dead Yamaha PCY13 and drilled a hole out of the bottom and added a rubber cymbal silencer as a 'landing pad'. Great for receiving a Roland CY-14 as a top cymbal.

The eDRUMin calibrates the top cymbal in a way my TD-20 couldn't -and I even get a bell sound! The Drone optical controller and the eDRUMin I/O units have opened up so many more possibilities for me.

My Drone Controller arrived yesterday. Installation was a breeze. Hit "Calibrate" on the Control App, tweaked some Gain and Sensitivity settings, and that was it. I'm using a CY-13 as the top cymbal, and a plastic plate with a foam ring as a bottom cymbal/stabilizer, and it all works like a charm.

I'm currently drawing power from a wallwart, which works fine; if I were to use the host port for that, I assume I would need to use a hub, since I'm also using the host port for my ED4?

I love that plastic plate! It makes a statement of your freedom from a VH controller

I agree! And what's nice about the (neoprene) foam ring, I just discovered, is that it not only greatly reduces impact noise, it also gives you just enough squishiness to attain both "Closed" and "Tight" articulations with just the right amount of foot pressure. Highly recommended.
