I was trying to repeat your build the whole weekend and ... I failed
Couldn't repeat your success at all (3 piezos in parallel: ceramics to tip, brass to sleeve, the center piezo: ceramics to sleeve, brass to tip; rim piezos in parallel: ceramics to ring, brass to sleeve).
The newest build 2.3.1, settings: Roland, center piezo mesh
I was tweaking using different cones' heights, mesh tensions (new Roland PowerPly) -> basically always 4 hotspots, no stable PS. Huge difference in PS when hitting close to the cone and between cones (I mean the ones close to the rim of course)
Could you share, please:
1. What did you use to stick 27mm piezos to the disk?
2. link to the Amazon shop with the black cones you used
3. Could you attach the picture of the bottom of the snare (how the rim piezos are located) - Rob mentioned somewhere that they may be used for PS as well, but I couldn't find any obvious parameter/switch, so it happens probably somewhere in the software/background.
The snare is 14", the disk 6mm thick.
Really, I'm out of ideas for now

I had some issues getting the wiring sorted out. I'm not sure how you're doing it but I figured out that my lever nuts weren't making good connections because it wasn't stripping enough wire. It took me a while to realize this with the muliltimeter. I'd start there.

Yeah, I soldered everything and measured with multimeter to be sure. So that's not the issue.
If there were no connection there would be no hotspot.

Hmm. Sounds like you know what you're doing. I use high bond doubpe sided tape to secure cones to piezos. I have a foam dot the size of the brass that adheres the Piezo to wood. I guess the cones could be your issue. What are they made from? Mine are a soft poron, softer than Roland. Il post the link when I get a chance but they are in Amazon. Cones are 1mm above the rim. Rim piezos are attached to the brackets that hold the plate on the bottom side of the piece that touched the plate. I'm on a 2.3 build. Not sure which one. I'll try to poke around tonight and posty setup more.

Thanks for your reply. My cones are from foam, but quite hard ones. Once you paste the link to to Amazon I'll buy the softer ones you have and we'll see.

For my other DIY snare builds I have found that the foam dot beneath the piezo matters a lot. In case you might not be aware, be sure that the foam overlays just the ceramic portion. If it sticks also to the metal portion, it limits the signal. If your adhesion method varies from piezo to piezo, that could mess up a multi-sensor design. Consistency is likely important for this build.
