Reducing sensitivity of bell on triple zone Lemon 18

Post by MWJT42 »

Is there an eDRUMin software method, or hardware hack to reduce the sensitivity of the bell on the Lemon triple zone 18, please?

I'm constantly unintentionally triggering it. It seems more sensitive to the left of the bell area, than the right, for some reason (presumably designed for RH players to strike the bell that side) about 2 inches onto the bow area.

Thanks.

Not currently, no. It's so hard to trigger a bell on a Roland cymbal, so eDRUMin is extremely sensitive to give the best performance. I don't have issues with my 18" Lemon. Perhaps you really got a lemon.

Yeah, I might dismantle it to see if the piezo has moved or something. It seems to have drifted even further today!

Is bell sensitivity a useful option for the beta? Different cymbals (especially DIY) might benefit

There's probably an optimization I can to fix that for the Yamaha preset. It comes down to poor pad construction, but can be compensated for in my scanning algorithm.

Maybe that will fix problems with the bell switch also.
The guys from Lemon say "It's a matter of the settings. You can set the sensitivity on nearly all modules!"

Is the Lemon 18 definitely a switch?

Mine is set to use the 2 input Roland setting, which I understood to mean piezo bell, piezo bow, switch edge.

Is there a 2 input setting for switch bell, piezo bow, switch edge?

Hi,

I don't know Roland 3 Zone cymbals.
I saw circuit diagrams with piezo at bow and bell wired to the corresponding outputs together with
the corresponding switch on the TRS rings.

I can say, Lemon cymbals only have one piezo on the bow. The second output is only a switch.

A piezo for the bow, a switch for the edge and a switch for the bell.
