I have my own DIY adapter here and I'll see if I can reproduce your results this afternoon.

eDRUMin is incredibly sensitive. Even a tiny voltage diviatiion for as little as 50us is even to trigger the edge. This would look like a tiny spec under an otherwise flat line. If you were zoomed to far out on your scope, you wouldn't even see it. Take a closer look.

Ok, thank you.

I've implemented a fix for that for the piezo switch pad type, bit it's not implemented for Yamaha pad types.
So the fix is to set eDrumIn to a lower sensitivity for piezo/switch pads?
Or let the user adjust the sensitivity of the edge trigger? Or select the switch only with a certain piezo signal(strength)?

Wooow, yeah! I see.

With those hits, I generate only about 100-200 mV.
So, the switch doesn't need to be closed to trigger a note.
I did't know that.

For a choke it has to close? For a certain time?

Greetings

I'm not going to go into all the details, Manuel. A lot of that is private information that I have gleaned though personal R&D. Not only that, but it's complex to describe as you've already seen through your scope, for eDRUMin the switch is not simply an on/off mechanism.

Oh, you don't have to.
Sorry, Rob. I don't wanted to be too "demanding".

Ok, someone already assembled an adapter for this.
Very detailed, awesome tutorial by RetroRambler at vdrums.com.

https://www.vdrums.com/forum/advanced/d ... pter-cable

But I think I will mod the 39$ cymbals itself.
That would be another story with a 500$ ATV ride.

I will put that link into the main eDrumIn forum, if there is no thread about that topic already.
Thanks mprinz. I ended up needing to make some adapters, and figured it might be helpful to make a guide with pictures up. Also Dave at Diamond had another customer who wanted some e-cymbals done up who would also be using eDrumin's so I was trying to help him too. His other customer, I think, went the cymbal mod route.

I don't blame people for not wanting to have an adapter on the cymbal and that is one disadvantage of those Neutrik connectors I'm building with, being high quality metal they're also a bit heavy. (but a small tie wrap will solve that problem, tie wrap it to the cymbal arm)

When you are triggering up the cymbal yourself and are already going to be messing around inside a little box on the bottom side of it anyway, it's a no-brainer -- might as well turn it into a Yam style cymbal if you're going to be using it on something that knows what one is. :) And also if the cymbal doesn't cost that much to begin with.

But yeah, situation was a little different for me as I didn't want to modify something I would have to send back to Germany (from USA) for warranty if something went bad on the cymbal. (this was before Edrumcenter.com got distributorship for ATV in the USA).

The thing is, I have to do another 4 cymbals.

But it's so much fun to have a third or actually a second articulation on the crashes.
Does anyone really use the e.g. SD3 bow articulation on the e-cymbal bow?

On the hihat, I use the tip, edge, bell articulations. For the crashes, not. But actually I didn't check it out, with my SD3 libs.

This is exactly why I used the guide and made those adapters - I have Roland 16" Thin Ride and wanted to save one input, but edrumin software bell detect is not that good with it. At the same time, opening the cymbal would be expensive if ever I needed a warranty repair. After I do not have warranty, I may hard wire it, but until then, the connectors will do fine :) and everything seems to work OK . Thanks for the guide and detailed photos :)
