Trigger shallow rimshot articulation

I've looked into this recently, and the processing part to distinguish shallow and deep rimshots is pretty simple. For me the tricky part is finding space on the UI for adding yet another note control. I will likely need to make significant UI changes before I'm able to support shallow and deep rimshots.
Hi Rob,

did you really think about adding that feature to the eDrumIn?

Thanks for all your efforts!

I haven't yet. Not sure if I will any time soon. Getting consistent detection is not trivial.

I'm fairly sure this is functioning in SD3..? Although, not consistently, I am getting a different RS tone on the side compared the centre. Unless, it's some bizarre placebo.

Is the positional sensing still active during a rimshot? As in, does it always send CC data?

I don't think it used to be, but I may have made that change in version 1.6. I didn't know SD3 supported shallow and deep rimahots.

Yup, CC 16 is being sent for rimshots and for sidesticks. I'll leave it on for rimshots, but it probably shouldn't be sent for sidesticks. Thanks for pointing that out.

I checked it out some more, and it's not reliable enough. I think I will just disabled it for both rimshot and sidestick.

Please don't - I don't think it's causing any issues, and the articulation change, whilst inconsistent, is still most welcome to add some natural feeling to the snare response.

Where in SD3 are there shallow and deep rimshots, and/or which kits might have these articulations? I get some occasional something like deep reverbed rimshot hits and can’t figure out where they come from - I figured maybe they are just a double hit combo triggering of both a snare and rim shot, as they do seem a bit louder than normal RS's. After reading this thread I set up a MAX patcher and fed SD3 a full range slider of separate cc16 messages while triggering various RS’s and snare head hits, and the only thing cc16 affected, as expected, was the snare head 3 zones.
