I'll do some more testing, but I suspect there's also a resistor built into that adapter that changes the taper of the pot. Nonetheless, I'm glad you got your pedal working properly. I suspect I can conjure up a firmware solution to the issue as well. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Upon investigating this adapter, I found a way to modify the design of MIDI Expression devices to properly support this pedal and several others without the use of the adapter.

See this thread for details.

I am finding with mine that I get no change for the first third or so of the range (starting from all the way down). Did you see this problem and manage to overcome it?

The problem arises because the 'wiper' of that pedal is connected to the RING and not the TIP (or is it the other way around?). Nonetheless, I've managed to redesign the hardware to allow the the RING and TIP connection to be effectively swapped. MIDI Expresssion devices sold after May 23rd and MIDI Expression Quattro devices sold after June 8th have the redesigned hardware. It seems that yours does not.

You have a couple options:
a) adjust the expression curve to compensate for this (easiest solution).
b) buy an adaptor from Ashley Solutions for about $15 (most expensive solution).
c) physically cut the wire to your FC7 and swap the wires (not the most eloquent solution).

Rob
