Snare triggers without being hit

Post by Subject »

Hi, so still ironing out little kinks in my set up, and I've noticed the snare will trigger on its own occasionally.

It's generally a soft, almost grace note, and I've not noticed it while playing (although maybe just that it's undetectable amidst everything else) but if I'm working on the DAW its plugged into, even if the DAW isn't playing at the time, I'll get these hits on the snare, seemingly with no rhyme nor reason as to when, just randomly. Sometimes two close together, sometimes minutes go by and nothing.

Initially I thought it must be some noise/vibration causing it (e.g when I stick click above the snare, it triggers at a similar velocity) but no amount of me stomping on the floor or clapping near it seems to trigger it, and there's no noticeable cause e.g. big thuds from the neighbours doors etc, going on in correlation to when it triggers, it seems to just be arbitrary. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Your thresh control is too low and it's triggering on electrical noise.

I noticed Daws tend to produce more noise and act slightly different in general than stand-alone. I suspect it's because you have to engage the interface circuitry
