Gonna be that new guy....

Post by Subject »

Hi, please help! Yeah I know, one of those people. I've literally just opened the box etc. However, I am relatively well versed with MIDI and ableton, outside of drumming. All set up, I'm getting no response in the DAW.

Power on the eDRUMin plugged in (and on), drums plugged in.
I've got USB to laptop
AND MIDI to audio interface (which is registering the input on the interface)
Control program open (and registering the input when I hit a drum on its GUI, loosely set up for my kit with right presets, but not yet tweaked)
Ableton open, two MIDI tracks set up, one reading from the USB connected eDRUMin, one monitoring the USB Novation interface MIDI connected to the eDRUMin (no need for both, I'm just trying to get either to work, was a test really)

Prefs in ableton as per the the picture in the eDRUMin manual, track and remote enabled (for both my interface and the eDRUMin)

0 signal coming into ableton.

Questions - firstly, how do I fix this? What am I missing?
Secondly, whats the recommended set up to get into a DAW with as low latency as possible? Presumably via the USB as opposed to the MIDI out?

EDIT: Also can't help but notice that where in the manual the drop down menu is full of Behringers, I can select the eDRUMin, but thats not been done in the manual's example?

Thanks so much in advance! Appreciate any help

Have you made any progress? You issues are not with the operation of eDRUMin and more with how to use MIDI and Ableton. Try googling "Ableton MIDI Virtual Instruments".

This might be something you've already done or know about but didn't mention, and I don't use Ableton, but...

You do have a drum plugin like Superior Drums or Addictive Drums in your midi track don't you?

Sorry if this was simply too obvious to bother mentioning!

You do say that there is no signal coming into Ableton so it might be an issue with your ASIO?
