eDRUMin 1.6 BETA

Post by Rob »

eDRUMin version 1.6 BETA is now available for testing. As always, downgrading to a previous version will factory reset your device. I'm hoping to hear some feedback about positional sensing for cymbals. It will not work with metal cymbals and performance will be less reliable with smaller cymbals. Not sure about cymbals with multiple peizos like ATV.

New Features
  • Positional Sensing for cymbals.
  • Adjustable crosstalk cancellation for external MIDI.
  • External MIDI devices can now have their crosstalk processed MIDI sent back to them (support for Roland modules with local control off).
Improvements
  • Improved Bell Sense accuracy.
  • Improved crosstalk cancellation for linked input when using BT-1 in crosstalk mode.
Bug Fixes since Version 1.5
  • Fixed a bug related crosstalk cancellation of USB Host port devices.
  • Fixed a bug that would always route MIDI Din In data back out the MIDI Din Out port.
  • Fixed a potential bell sensitivity issue on pads setup as Roland 3-Way Ride.
  • Fixed an issue when resetting an input that was configured as Roland 3-Way Ride.
  • Fixed an issue on Windows where the UI might go completely black when the windows was moved partially offscreen.
  • Fixed issues with the Addicting Drums ride map.
  • Fixed an issue with Steven Slate Drums mad for ride cymbal.
  • Fixed an issue adjusting the DECAY control after a very low velocity hit.
  • Cosmetic Fixes

Hey Rob,

Sweet!
Is the positional sensing only for Roland rides, or is it available on Yamaha PCY as well?

Just did a quick test and it doesn’t look good for the ATV. At first I thought it was going to work but as I hit around the bow the positional sensing indicator was jumping all over the place.

The ATVs are designed to be 360 triggering and, like you said, the multiple sensors are going to be problematic.

Are their cymbals compatible with positional sensing on Roland modules?

I have no clue. I have never owned a Roland module.

I saw a post on VDRUMS that seems to indicate that the ATV ride should.

It was a quick test. When I have more time I’ll dive deeper.

It likely won't work. As I said before, I'm doing something different than Roland.

I tried on my CY-15MG but it didn't do much, I've set it up as dual zone with bell sense, does it need to be in 3 way mode with 2 cables for PS?
