VH10 X-hat no pedal
I recently purchased a VH13 to replace by VH10. The plan was to sell the VH10 to appease my wife on cost of VH13. It’s been a month or two and I think my wife forgot so…I’m keeping the VH10 and play to use an X-hat. I bought a Gibraltar SC-4425XHMB X Hat. So there is no pedal, because I don’t intend to use a pedal. Plan is to use as a closed hat on right hand side of kit so I can play open handed instead of crossed. My question is about the VH10 controller. My original thought was to use a footswitch to change the bow and edge MIDI notes to whatever open/closed position I want (limited to four). I’m wondering if I could use the VH10 controller and manually set the VH10 to the open/close. I’m asking this question because I would most likely leave the VH10 closed or mostly closed all the time. Will that damage the VH10? Will I have issues with eDRUMin?

Re: VH10 X-hat no pedal
You won't damage anything. You'll probably need to disable 'SENSE' and set the polarity to 'Roland' for the VH-10 otherwise eDRUMin will be confused.

Okay thanks. That’s what I’ll do! Thanks.

Re: VH10 X-hat no pedal
Hi, I tested this out yesterday. I did disable sense and set polarity to Roland, but after power cycling the ED10 the settings are fine, but there is an issue. The VH10 controller will jump from 127 to 0 and back as I play on the cymbal. The only way to clear the issue is to release the clutch and pull the cymbal off the controller. Then power cycle the ED10. This causes me to leave the ED10 the whole time and then manually reset the cymbal to fully closed.
I think I’m going to try out levels next and see if that gets me better control using the clutch. I found getting a fully closed sound manually using the clutch requires a lot of force. I also had to set in EZD2 the most closed HH curve, or else as I played the VH10 would cycle between 127 to 123ish and a different articulation would play (this was when HH curve was set to none in EZD2).

I'll give this a try. Do you know if you are using an ED10 or ED10R2?Dadwrshpdrum wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 6:11 pmHi, I tested this out yesterday.
