Couple of suggestions that might make it easier for beginner

Post by CapCrunch »

When you're updating a few ideas. One might be pop up help files where you can hover over a function and it gives more detail and/or tells you how to interact with it. Another might be to be able to label the pads. Cheers

How about links to YouTube videos in the UI? You'd right click on a control, click the link, and then a YouTube video is loaded in a browser? Good / bad idea?

I think the link to the PDF section and the YouTube video is a great idea.

I copied sections from the PDF I found most relevant into Microsoft OneNote and then added related Youtube links so everything is in one place.

+1 definitely for the manual links or a tooltip.

I won't speak for anyone else, but I hate watching a video for reference material. I think they're great for tutorials, but if you're trying to figure out which knob to turn to fix x problem...not so much.

I’m a big manual guy myself. Whenever I’m evaluating a new product I go looking for the manual. But I feel I’m a dying breed.

The eDRUMin is a complex piece of software/hardware. You can’t exactly explain all the controls and how they relate with simple bubble tips. I think it will become a maintenance nightmare keeping links in the software matched up with the PDF. I’d prefer you concentrate of new features. :D

Ya, maintaining links is definitely a concern for me too. I think I'll do it anyway, though.

Yup, hate videos unless it is something that truly needs to be visualized, real life or otherwise.

Tooltip with summary text and a "more" link to the relevant section in the manual please and thank you.

I only hate videos when it takes 5 minutes to get to the point.
