Midi note translation

Post by Pejannl »

Hi. I am at the next step of my little ‘ride replacement’ project. I connected the (Jobeky) ride to the edrumin4 and in the software set it to “Roland 3 Zone Cymbal”. I can see the responses in the software. That seems to work fine.

Then I connected the edrumin to my module using a midi cable.

My drum module requires the ride to send midi notes 51, 53 and 59. I looked up those notes and found that these notes would be D#3, B3 and F3.

When I hit the cymbal I get sounds in my headset, but they are some wooden block sounds or something. Definitely not sounds from a ride cymbal. I guess I made errors finding the translation from note number to note. Does anyone have a table with these translations?

You can right click on the note control and it'll switch to note numbers. That might help.

YEAH!!!

That did the trick. Now I can just set the numbers, which I did and now I can use the Jobeky ride as a replacement for my default ride. Next step is tweaking the settings, but meanwhile I will dismount the Alesis thing and mount the Jobeky. Yeehaw!

Thanks mucho, Rob!
