drum-tec style snare pad setting

Post by mprinz »

Hi, can anybody help me with the trigger settings for a DIY 14"
drum-tec style snare pad on the edrumin4?

Its a quite rigid 10 spoke trigger system setup,
But I am not able to dial the pos sense in.
And I am not sure that I know how to set it up in Superior Drummer 3. Those cc16 settings are strange...

Thanks a lot!

No one's going to be able to give you a preset for a DIY pad, but it's really not that hard to get things setup without a preset.

Can you attach a screenshot of your settings for the pad.

I will provide a video...
I think I understand your video about setting up PS but it drives my crazy. Maybe I am too demanding on that thing. But in those Luke Oswald videos it all worked pretty well.

What should be possible with PS.
Should the edge articulations work with all velocities? or just on sublte strokes, or vice versa....

It's not consistent enough ...

I can’t comment on your specific setup, but in general, on an acoustic drum, how hard you hit works together with where you hit. Hit it hard on the edge, get a crack; hit it soft in the center, get more of a ring. I think eDRUMin does a decent job at emulating that.

If anything, look at your head tension. I find that the tighter the head, the more consistent the positional sensing results.

Yeah.... you are right.
I got also only low velocities for the edge, what's not surprising. But I saw videos on where there play quite cool patterns with higher edge volumes...
I am not goingto blame the module.
It's me or the pad or the sampler.

But, maybe Rob can comment on the generated cc16 values.
I got in the MIDI monitors a value lower than 127 but the red indicator falls to the left side.
And I got values between 1 and 63 but when I got Robs comment right, it should send 0 for Center and only when starting to fall in the far right green bar regions I should get cc16 above 64.

Yesterday evening I find it was working quite good... till my wife started yelling at me at 11 pm.

I will record a video this week and you could comment if you would be ok with it.

See ...

I think, that's ok.
Yesterday I tested the ddt MS-140 and ... naaa, I find the DIY 10 spoke trigger system triggering better.
With the ddt MS-140 I find the x-stick triggering and rim shot triggering not a consistent as with the 10-spoke system.
But ... well, you know how many parameters we have ...

What do you think: Video
What you see is the DIY drum-tec style snare.

But - now I remember I get double triggers when playing ghost notes... maybe you recognized it.
Thanks I don't want to set huge hold times..

Ah ok. Now it's even better.
I changed the piezos ...and fastened the trigger table.

Thanks for your comment :!:
