Jobeky snare too hot / positional sensing

Hi,

I got my brand new Jobeky snare here and I am messing around with the pos. sens. config.

One issue is, that it has a huge output signal. But I think I will get the new firmware and with a 0.5 Gain it should work, right!?
Now I the velocities are mostly 127.

Pos. sens. is working, quite well, BUT when I hit the edge a bit harder. Not exaggerated, but not a buzz roll either.... you know what I mean.
It's like that, that the edge triggers a center hit, when a harder edge hit at the end of snare fill should be there.

I think have to provide a video - if necessary.
But basically I followed Robs video on pos. sens.
And then I have loosened the mesh head. It was very tight out of the box.
In my opinion it could be even more loose.

Any experiences with pos. sense. and head head tension?

The x-stick trigger works very well. Much better than on the 13" ATV pad.

Do you have a link for that snare? It sounds like the snare is too hot for the eDRUMin input. I assume.you already have the gain set to 1? Is this with an ED4 or ED10?

Gain is down to 1.0, yap.

The positional sensing is configured so that if the signal clips, it always plays center. That is likely the issue you are seeing. It seems that snare is too hot for the ED4. The ED10 can handle signals that are 33% hotter, but I think it too might have issues. I don't own any Jobeky drums, but my impression is they run hot. Is it possible to lower the sensor a tad so it's not pressing as hard against the head?

A resistor from the signal to ground should work to attenuate the piezo, but a two resistor passive attenuator might be better. I've never tried before and it could have some unexpected consequences. I'll see if I can find some time tomorrow to test that idea.

Here is a schematic for simple passive attenuator. This will cut the strength of your signal in half and preserve the waveform. Probably won't need add an attenuator to the rim signal.

Wow, 10kOhms, eh? That big? Never imagined it needed so big.
I don't remember the values of the potentiometers I used in the past on my DIY kit. Might have been in the same range, I guess.
