I searched some of your previous posts and I think your hall sensor is powered by the eDRUMin.
You need to either use 'sense' or set the pedal type to an 'expression' type pedal.
The hihat pedal type doesn't supply power (it may have before, but that was a bug).

Yes I have always powered the hall sensor from the eDRUMin using a TRS cable using the ring for power. It's working now through the E4 plugged into the host port on the E10.
I'm not clear on how I would add external power to the pedal. Would I remove the ring from the other end of the cable and connect it to a 5 volt DC positive and the split the sleeve to negative on that power supply?

You don't need to add external power. Just set it up like this:

I think I have detected a bug with the USB Host Port and cycling back out to the input device.
I have my ATV aD5 connected into the eDRUMin10 via the eDRUMin's Host Port. The eDRUMin's USB 2.0 is connected to my MacBook AIr USB port. All of my trigger inputs are going into the aD5 EXCEPT my VH10 hi hat. The hi hat is directly input into the eDRUMin.
Everything seems to be working normally EXCEPT I'm getting a strange "phasing" sort of sound from the hi hat, as if MIDI signals from the eDRUMin are being sent to the aD5 (whcih I believe they are) and cycling back the eDRUMin where they're stacking with the original eDRUMin notes.
This phenomenon only seems to be happening with the hi hat. Again, the hi hat is the only trigger input device that is going directly into the eDRUMin's trigger inputs and not into the aD5. The aD5 seems to be triggering all my other MIDI notes nicely. Is there a setting to stop the eDRUMin from re-routing MIDI back out to the other input devices. If not, this might be a nice feature.

Seems like the AD5 is forwarding its USB MIDI in back out its USB MIDI out.
What data is being forwarded? Is is the pedal CC data or the closed pedal notes?

Maybe the easiest thing to do is to try to detect feedback loops and filter them out.

I could swear I tried the Sense On, Roland polarity (two horizontal line) and pedal type Expression and the pedal was bouncing around by itself but I tried your suggestion and it's fine. Thanks for the quick help. It was a good exercise learning how the host port works with an E4 - I hadn't tried that yet. One thing I noticed was my VST host Cantabile and Reaper only saw the E10 but the pads connected to the E4 into it's host port worked great.
Here's a question: Maybe I'm imagining things here after a long day of recording and tweaking but I could swear my hi-hat plays better connected to the E10 - maybe I have that pedal curve tweaked more to my liking than what I set when the pedal was plugged into the E4.
Normally I play my eDrums stand alone with the E10 connected to a laptop that has a UMC202HD connected. The eDRUMin is about 10 feet from my recording desktop which has Reaper and Mixbus32C. I used a 14' USB 2.0 cable and connected it to the front panel USB of the Dell Optiplex 790 I use for recording. My episode with the hi-hat pedal bouncing by itself started when I updated to 1.4.0.17 from the Optiplex. I decided to try my powered hub (Plugable USB 2 with a 5 volt 2amp power supply) instead. That hub lives halfway between the computer and the eDRUMin so I could use a normal 6 ft cable from the hub to the eDRUMin.
I had problems with "xruns" in Mixbus when setting buffers to 128 so I went back to Reaper for recording drum parts (recording midi). That went well especially as I have setup an Android tablet (an old Samsung Galaxy Tab A) with Reaper's web interface so I do everything from the drum throne. I also setup tablet control of Mixbus using the TouchOSC app on the tablet.
Recording yourself playing really helps to see if you have time problems with song parts.

Just the closed pedal notes. I'll look into the aD5's forwarding. If I understand the diagrams in the manual correctly, wouldn't any other MIDI note originating from the aD5 make its way to the eDRUMin, then out and back to the aD5? I suspect what's actually happening is that the AD5 is generating its own closed pedal note based on the CC4 that is being sent to it by the eDRUMin. You could test this by changing the CC to a different value to see it the 'phasing' goes away.MisterE wrote:Just the closed pedal notes.
