Yes, true. I'll try to explain again from scratch :-)

First, I've set up the eDRUMin for SD3 following the manual and everything works as expected. So I guess, the basic setup and connections are good.

Now, I would like to make it also work with the Medeli module. The module is connected to the ED10 through USB-Midi on the host port. I've adapted all MIDI notes in ED10 to match those of the Medeli module, and everything works except for the hi-hat.

The manual of the Medeli states that it uses five different notes for the HH articulations, namely HH-Open (46), HH-Closed (42), HH-Open-Edge (26), HH-Closed-Edge (22) and Pedal (44). It responds to these notes when I play them through a MIDI keyboard as expected.

What I'm trying to achieve is that the ED10 sends those five different notes, depending on the combination of hh-pedal and hh-trigger. So far, on the ED10 I can only configure two notes for the HH (bow & edge) and two for the pedal (pedal & splash), but I cannot assign different notes for HH open and closed. It seems this is handled solely through MIDI CC04 (is this true?).

My guess is that the Medeli module does not handle MIDI CC04. It seems to completely ignore it (but that's just a guess, as there are no details about this in the manual). I think, what I would need is an option where the ED10 allows to set four different notes for the HH (open, open-edge, closed, closed-edge), and decides whether to trigger the open or closed notes based on the pedal state.

Thanks for the patience and quick reactions!

Thank you for the clear explanation. Unfortunately eDRUMin doesn't support seperate hihat notes for varying levels of hihat openness. It instead sends CC4.

I might consider adding that functionality in the future, but not any time soon.

Thanks, that would be great.

Maybe a technically simple solution would be, if you added an option that the pedal switches between banks 1 and 2 at some point, maybe the travel point. That should work for me as a workaround, because I could define the different note pairs on two banks and have the HH pedal activate the right bank.

That's an interesting idea. Have the position of the pedal dictate which hihat note bank is selected. That would certainly be a lot easier to implement. That would only give you four levels of openness, but that should be enough for your module.

Glad you like the idea! For my module (and probably many other cheap modules) this should totally work, and I guess, as long as its optional, it shouldn't cause problems with VSTs or other modules.

I'd appreciate if you could find some time to implement this. For now, I will have use the internal triggering of the module for the hihat, which is a shame because that's not very good. But I can still use ED10 for all other pads.

A software MIDI interpreter will be able to convert CC04 to notes for you I'm sure. One was mentioned elsewhere in this board somewhere....

Pretty sure Reaper can do this on the fly too (some suggestion that Cantible also does)

Thanks for those suggestions. But the point would be to do it without a computer running. When I boot the PC, I can just play through SD3. But often, it's a lot more convenient to power up the device and be able to instantly play, especially when I only wanna play a little during a short break.
