Delay on closing hi hat controller

Post by bmijts »

I just received my eDRUMin10 and overall I love it, it's a huge upgrade from my TD17 module. On on a Mac with Mojave and using SD3. One big issue though is with my VH-10 hi hat controller. I've set up the hihat and eDRUMin according to your Youtube video. Opening and closing the controller quickly without triggering the hihat seems to work very smoothly, but when triggering the hat for quick hihat barks, the controller doesn't close completely and stays at a 'shelf' value for a few seconds before suddenly closing. It seems like the eDRUMin is unable to keep up with the CC change and then suddenly catches up. I've checked the V10 controller and there are no mechanical issues with it, and I never observed this on the TD-17 module. I've attached an image showing the behavior. No change in regular or advanced settings (eg. fast stepping fix) seem to eliminate this problem. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Yes, updated to the latest version of the firmware, and using latest version of software.

What's happening is that eDRUMin filters out small pedal movements for a short period of time after a hit on the hihat, so this is expected behavior. I'll revisit that code and see if I can relax the filter settings a bit for version 1.4.

Ok, thanks. Would rolling back to a previous firmware help, or has this filtering been present in all versions? It's not a huge deal but definitely noticeable when I play really quick hihat barks, which I do a lot.

It's been around since version 1.2. I don't recommend downgrading. I'm really close to completing version 1.4, and I'll spend some time ”barking” before I do.

Still testing, but so far 1.4 appears to have eliminated the issue. I'm super impressed with how quickly you responded to this, thanks!
