Looking for suggestions

I’m using 19 of my 20 inputs. Not one to let things go to waste I’m thinking I want to use this last input as a one shot kind of special effect input. Maybe a small three zone pad setup so that the head, rim and rimshot is assigned to individual one shot sound effects like say a trumpet blast. Then I could use bank switching to setup multiple sound effects.

That is one idea any way... I’m looking for ideas though. How would you use one extra input if you had it?

Depends on what you already have...

Tambourine, claps, snaps, gong, rain stick, etc....

Myself, I always shudder when I hear sound like horns, beeps and whistle from module sounds....
I could live with whistles... but car horns and the likes... nope.

I have a BT-1 that I can switch, using a pedal, between cowbell, tambourine, shaker, and handclaps.
It's a dual switch pedal. I use the other switch to cycle between different splashes and chinas on a CY-5.

I have mixed feelings about the BT-1. It's not as responsive as I would like it to be, compared to, say, a rubber cymbal, but it works very well for percussive accents. It's easy to tuck away in small spaces. I have it mounted on its own stand, to eliminate crosstalk, because you have to whack it a bit harder than other triggers.

In theory BT-1 is dual-zone (center vs. both edges) but I'm using it as a mono pad. (I've never played a dual-zone cowbell before, so there.)

Newer Roland modules let you use it in "Switch" mode (with built-in crosstalk cancellation, for mounting on the side of another trigger), or "Sensor" mode (standalone). Far as I can tell, eDRUMin just sees it as a regular ("Sensor") trigger.

I also used an old PD-7 pad for percussion for a while. I retired it because I thought it was too loud, acoustically speaking, but they're dual-zone and they can be had for $20 on eBay.

I looked at the Drum-Tec tube a while ago, but at the time they only sold them as a three-pack, which was about two tubes too many for my needs. I wonder if they're more sensitive than the BT-1, but for now the BT-1 suits my needs.

Another option to consider: add a secondary snare. I’ve got a PDX-6 mounted due north of my main snare and use it as a piccolo. I’ve seen other setups with a secondary snare mounted to the left of the hihat. Either way, I’ve found that it opens up interesting sonic possibilities.

I do have a 14” snare that isn’t being used and mesh heads to cover it. I can build up a DIY trigger and use the snare somewhere. My setup is semi-ambidextrous (I have a floor tom on my left) so I’m not sure where I’d put it. I’ll have to give it some thought.
