It is NOT real world latency.
I understand. DAW measurement is usually the only one reported, and typically the only one we have any control over.

Out of interest, any idea what a typical drum brain would measure (real world)?

I think Roland gets about 5ms. Yamaha were always slower, at about 7ms.

Thanks for all your replies :)
I'm currently running SD3 in Windows 7 on a powerful older Asus G74 16gb laptop in my mancave studio and it works fine, but as I have no use for the Roland TD30's internal sounds and since the module still sells for a good price, I'm really considering the eDRUMin 10...
But as I live in Denmark the shipment costs plus high import taxes are considerable, so maybe I'll wait and hope for free shipping later on...
I'm using the ATV EXS-5 drumset with 14 inch two piece hihat, 2x14 inch cymbals and 16" ride + 3 Roland CY-8 cymbals. And a 13 inch hand hammered DrumTec Diabolo snare. But besides the snare, hihat and ride, all drums and pads just trigger one sound for me...

you forgot to say how many toms, and single or dual kicks.... ;)

Are you using the TD30 as the audio interface for SD3?

I use 4 toms and a double pedal on a single kick.
I'm not using the TD-30 as audio interface, but a Zoom UAC-2. :)
I also have a Focusrite Scarlet solo that I use for guitar tracking...

ah. so you need 11 inputs for that, assuming you will use splitters on the toms.
If you were to split two CY8 as well, you would be fine with a single ED10.
Or get an extra ED4 and have 3.5 inputs extra for more cowbells (!), fx pads and cymbals... :)
