Yamaha 3-zone pad

Post by ohm-ish »

I don't have an eDRUMin yet.
But I can see in the manual, there's a "yamaha 3-zone pad" option.

Could that drum work (3 zones) with just a stereo to stereo jack, or does it take up two plugs on the eDRUMin?

Thanks Rob :)

If anyone uses or has tried the Yamaha XP120SD (DTX).. Is it good? Better or worse than a Roland pad?
Zone separation shouldn't be an issue on it, at least

I really wanted to like the XP pads (TCS foam).

After many years of longing for a set, I finally had the chance to try one in a store... and hated it!

These new pads have either a great following or great hatred. There's no in between!

There are people who love it, and others who think you are hitting a bowl of overcooked noodles.

That being said, I'm sure they trigger really nice, not having the hot spot that Roland pads have. And the 3 zones out of one input is nice too!

I wish I could find the old TP pads (rubber) second hand in my corner of the world... but they never show up.
Only saw once, and the guy wanted to sell at the price of the new TCS pads... which I though was dumb.

How about the Roland PDA120LS?
Has anyone here tried it?
It's new, ok price, and looks nice

it has a side sensor system so you wont have positional sensing with the edrumin

I wonder if I could make a DIY 3-zone snare pad.
Has anyone done or tried that?
Can't find much on google

But if the eDRUMin supports the yamaha 3-zone then it should be possible.
Unless it's a limited support somehow

OR.. hmm is the yamaha 3-zone actually just refering to the usual "head, sidestick and rimshot"?

There are wiring diagrams at the back of the manual that will give you all the electrical information you need.
