Edge Scaling
Re: Edge Scaling
What firmware version are you running?
Re: Edge Scaling
Not saying it’s faulty, just not top of the line. I own a CY-13, a CY-14, and a CY-15R. Those are in a different league and were a breeze to set up. I got the CY-5 to work to my liking now (treating it as a mono trigger with Edge Sense, as suggested above, yielded much better dynamic response.)jacko wrote: the idea that roland would tweak their modules for a faulty pad rather than producing (yet another) reliable pad doesn’t sound likely to me
It’s definitely the case that when you compare the preset trigger settings on a Roland module, the CY-5 and the CY-8 utilize some more extreme values, but that’s par for the course. I’m just impressed with the eDrumIn and the control app’s ability to tease out a decent response even from a mediocre trigger.

Re: Edge Scaling
Can you attach a screenshot of your settings for the CY5 when it's setup as a piezo / switch pad?

CY-5 Dual Zone Cymbal
ED10 1.2.0.15
All strikes recorded mid bow, one hard strike, one soft strike
Hard strikes always triggers EDGE. Soft strike triggers bow.

Re: Edge Scaling
I didn't understand your problem originally. I suspect your pad is a bit worn. What's happening is that hard hits are causing the switch to activate ever so slightly. I can add a low / high sensitivity switch that will take care of the problem.

Re: Edge Scaling
I should mention that if you connect the CY-5 as a mono input with Edge Sense, you lose the ability to choke it. Depending on what instrument you trigger with it, this may not desirable.

Re: Edge Scaling
from memory it was 1.2.0.10 the last time i tried to dial it inRob wrote:What firmware version are you running?
i should have time to give it another crack this weekend with the 1.3 beta
Re: Edge Scaling
I've made a small change that should prevent the mistriggering edge. I'll include it in build 6.jacko wrote: i should have time to give it another crack this weekend with the 1.3 beta
Re: Edge Scaling
Yes. I think this is strictly mechanical. The CY-5, when implemented as a hi-hat, is held fairly firmly by a specialized piece of hardware. The pad, associated hardware, and supports would absorb vibrations. When implemented as a cymbal, its low mass and smaller circumference leads to a violent reaction when struck sharply. More vibration must be dissipated by the pad alone. I am not sure how that activates a switch specifically, but it’s the best I’ve got.Rob wrote:What's happening is that hard hits are causing the switch to activate ever so slightly.
