Brilliant, well done Rob. Looks like some massive improvements to the high hat control, particularly working with SD3.

On first glance at the manual, can you confirm if a single highhat with a stand mounted controller (mine is a goedrum, but I believe the VH11 to be the same setup) is best set to 'pedal' or 'stand' please?

Thanks.

The 'stand' mode is pretty experimental still. It will work best with VH-12 /13 style setups where you have two cymbals that come together. That being said, I also have it working very well with my VH-10. In fact I've only tested it with a VH-13 and VH-10, so I'm really hoping to get some more feedback in order to improve it and make sure it works with other setups as well.

First play on the kit using 1.3. And YES! HH set to 'send CC on hit' works flawlessly, and I was able to dial in the foot splashes in SD3 too using the sensitivity. Despite me using a cheap goedrum hat trigger pad and controller, this now feels very natural and plays as expected.

Thanks for putting the time in to address this.

The 'fast stepping fix' worked but didn't allow me to trigger any open in-between hits, so not suitable for my purposes. Could it potentially allow trigger hits? That way we have the ability to fast step without artifacts, but could still have the opportunity for transmutation on slower movements.

Can I suggest that 'pedal' and 'stand' are renamed please ('controller' and 'dual'...?) as the VH11 and goedrum type controllers are stand mounted, but require the current 'pedal' option to operate successfully, which could cause confusion.

That must be a bug. You should definitely be able to rigger any open in-between hits with this feature enabled.

I agree that they should be renamed, but I'm not sold on controller and dual. I'll give it some more thought. Thanks for the feedback.

Definitely a bug when using pedal mode. It's fixed for the next build. Thank-you.

My setup will be interesting when it comes time to setting up my hi-hat. I’m using an ATV 14” cymbal sitting on top of a VH-11 controller. However I didn’t like the way the cymbal moved so much when hitting it. So I took a LV cymbal and I’m using it as a bottom cymbal. All of this is sitting on a DW-9000 remote hi-hat stand.

Any thoughts on what initial settings I should use when my 10s arrive?

Just keep in mind that the 'stand' mode relies on the measuring the vibrations caused when the hihat cymbals hit each other, or in the case of my vh-10, when the bottom cymbal is jolted as it hits the bottom of it's travel. If your setup has a significant amount of impact when you press the pedal all the way down, then 'stand' mode might work well for you.

Version 1.3 includes lots of under the hood improvements for the traditional 'pedal' method, too, so don't feel like you need to be using 'stand' method to reap the benefits.

Hi Rob,

I decided to live large and just went ahead and updated my ED10 to 1.3.0.5 - Then I thought to myself, let's see if the hi-hat is any different even if I make no changes from the control app or in the VST

Wow!

It's playing exactly how I imagined it should. I can't get ahead of it "stepping" fast chicks. The chick/splash works at faster tempos also.

Time to work on my Whole Lotta Love solo :D

Nice work and THANK YOU!

Doug
