REALHAT pedal from Alesis

Post by clementonsong@gmail.com »

Hello!!
Does the Alesis Realhat pedal (Continuous Controller as Alesis claims it to be) work with the edrumin module? I mean when plugged onto the port at the back for hihat controller and used with Superior Drummer 3?

Should I also connect the hihat pads along in the edrumin ? Or can the hihat pad remain in the module and be mapped to the tip hihat trigger of Superior Drummer 3?
Please do let me know some insights on this.

In any of the cases, whnether the hihat pad goes into the drum module or into the edrumin, would the hihat operation work seamlessly? In the worst case, if the Alesis RealHat pedal doesn't work for some reason with edrumin, can I buy the roland FD8 and use it instead? Would things work for me with most of my kit plugged to my Alesis Nitro module but for the hihat and hh controller or just the Hh controller ?

Also, will the chic and the splash work seamlessly with the realhat pedal? Please let me know which HH Controller is best o use? Or some movalbe hi hat and controller like VH10 or VH11?

Please help.. Thank you.
Clement

PS: I am contemplating to buy the EdrumIN as I need a CC HH controller pedal with my SD3. I also have a RealHat pedal at hand (so this new thread at the first place). So which one works with eDrumIN? I somehow want to use CC Hihat than using fixed note hihat articulations. What about the GOeDrum HH Contoller? does it work? or can I buy the Alesis pro-x-hihat??

Yes, you can use that pedal in the back of the eDRUMin. No, you don't need to have to hihat connected to the eDRUMin at the same time. Any gear that is compatible with Roland, Yamaha, or Alesis, or pretty much any other brand, will work fine (seamlessly as you put it) with an eDRUMin.

Thank you Rob for the reply and the ever wonderful product you have conceived for the world of edrummers. All my wishes for your future endeavours be great as always!!!

So, that makes it clear that I can use the Alesis Realhat Continuous Control pedal connected to the eDrumIn module in-turn connected to my Macbook Pro in combination with my Alesis Nitro Module (where I have the other pads and hithat pad connected to) also connected to my Macbook Pro and hope the chck and Splash works too with the pedal??

So this workflow looks very formidable. And this makes me very confident to go ahead and order the eDrumIn module.

Finally, in future, if I want to graduate to a movable hi-hat assembly, again for me to start with, would a controller like the Goedrum HH controller mounted over a manual HiHat stand (I know the controller itself has some minor issues) be compatible with the edrumIn module's hihat controller jack??
Please do let me know about this as it is future proof for me.

About shipping, I live in India currently and I tried to do "addtocart" the edrumIn module, but it doesn't allow me to checkout saying I need to add a Fedex for $70 (not very sure of the prices I'm quoting here... I mean i'm saying approx prices)

So if I add that $70 would I be allowed to check out the edrumIn module for $149? So would it be 2 separate payments for $70 and $149? Or should I consolidate and make the payment of say approx $219?
Whatsoever, once I pay $70 which I understand is for shipping, would I be liable for more tax from the Indian customs on arrival of the package? Or does Fedex cover that custom + shipping for me? I know this is a lot to ask but would be grateful if you could let me know this please as this shipping seems very confusing. Sorry Rob.

And with this COVID situation at hand, is shipping to India happening? Or must I wait before I would order? any date? and any rough idea how long it takes to reach India if I order now?.

Thanks again Rob!!!

Yes the Goedrum HH controller is supported.

There is no free shipping to India right now. You'll need to purchase both FedEx shipping and the eDRUMin. You should be able to add both to the same PayPal cart. You aren't able to? Someone else recently reported having trouble adding eDRUMin to their cart. Not sure why. Using FedEx you are pretty much guaranteed to be charge import duties on the order.

Thanks Rob. So I will start off with GoEDrum Controller and a manual hi hat stand.

Actually, clicking on adding to cart button nothing really happens. I only see a $70 bill being demanded for FEDEX on top of it in the product page itself. It doesn't take me to the cart or anything (I use Chrome browser)
I was thinking once I pay that FEDEX amount, I will then be able to order the eDrumIn for $149 (so separate payments). Is it not the intended approach then?

So on top of FEDEX's shipping cost of $70, the custom duty would be charged is it? ANyway, will have to bear it.

So, finally I pay around $219 + the percentage levied by Indian Govt Custom laws, is it?

Now, Is it like how I understand?

Thank you

Yes, you are correct. Looks like there's a bug on my webpage. Just refresh the page and don't click on any of the menu items and it should work. I'll fix the website ASAP. Thanks.

Sure thanks for clarifying the questions I had on the eDRUMin. Really excited to have the device soon. Actually can't wait. I'm buying this mainly to use CC controlled hihat rather than 4 fixed notes I get out of my current hihat.

I'm only a bit doubtful about whether shipping happens internationally at these times. Are u sure they ship to India at these times?
Could u please check once on shipping time frame to Chennai, TN, India?

And please try to tell me approximately how long it takes for the eDRUMin to reach me from the order date?

Thank u

FedEx is shipping is available. I suspect it would take less than a week to arrive. It's harder to predict shipping times recently, though.

BTW, I fixed the website so you should have no problems adding eDRUMin to your cart now.

Thanks a lot Rob for confirming. And hope FEDEX provides tracking info as well?

I have to tell you, you are so quick and responsive, so as your products. I believe, no one can ask for more customer service than this. I got all my resolution is less than 24 hrs of starting this thread. Greattttt!!!!

Now, I'm looking to add one more product to the cart, which is MIDI Expression because once I get a GOEdrum soon, my current Alesis hihat CC pedal would become useless (as use of GOedrum would need a manual hihat stand and pedal). Also I believe, the hihat control jack on my eDRUMin would be already taken by the GOEdrum controller cable, wouldn't it? I cannot use the 4 jacks on the front of eDRUMin for any pedal inputs, am I correct? (as the kick needs to be run in NOTE mode)

So, I will need an extra jack for the extra pedal I now have. I guess the MIDI EXPRESSION device from audiofront would become useful in such a case and I will use it as a second kick pedal going forward..So as to implement double kick. Hope my idea works?

I will order ASAP. Also, 1 week to 10 days for internationally getting something shipped is truly amazing at this COVID situation going on.

Thank you!!!
Clement
PS: Some closing thoughts: Assume, I don't use a GOEdrum HH Controller here as I described earlier, and ONLY use my Alesis Hi Hat CC Controller for the hi-hat pedal CC operation and also use my drum module for rest of the pads, I could even get away by just using a single input "MIDI EXPRESSION device" for the Alesis HiHat CC pedal and not need the eDRUMin in such a situation, is that correct?

What I mean to ask is that, the single controller jack at the back of eDRUMin and the single input MIDI EXPRESSION device are one and the same application wise, is that correct? Please let me know. Thank you!!

Yes, a MIDI Expression could handle your Alesia pedal just fine, but you would have some issues using it with the Geo because for a hihat on a stand, the hihat ontroller and the hihat cymbal need to be able to communicate, and this not possible with MIDI Expression devices.
