Hi,

I have a Edrumin and tomorrow i will get my analog hall sensor to use with pedal input.

Can you provide wiring scheme how to connect the pins to TRS and how to set up in eDrumin?

As long as the sleeve is ground, it shouldn't matter. The pedal input has auto polarity reversing tech built in to support both Yamaha and Roland style wiring.

Well, it's not that the polarity does not matter, actually if you switch Ring and tip it does not work. So, here is a diagram that i made that works 100%

TRS jack:

Ground goes to hall sensor Ground (or 0)
Ring goes to hall sensor voltage input (or +)
Tip goes to hall sensor data/analog signal (or signal)

There is one slight disadvantage to putting the sensor on the foot pedal. It keeps you from using a quick release hi-hat drop clutch.

If the sensor is on the pedal you won’t be able to do double bass work while staying on a closed hi-hat. I suspect this isn’t an issue for most people though as they may not care.

If you put the hall sensor up in the cymbals the disadvantage goes away.

My DIY Hihat controller. And yea, you can use it on cymbal with drop. Not my level of drumming tho...

I like that design, no drilling or fabricating required.

I would add a note on the diagram that you are looking at the sensor with the beveled edges up so right leg is tip, center is ground and left leg is sleeve will help

I also made the assumption a traditional two cymbal hi-hat set is being used. I forget there are a lot of signal cymbal hi-hat setups out there.

Hi! Interesting thread. I have tested an FSR sensor but those are not linear. At least that one i have.
I will try the Honeywell Hall sensor.
Is it working well?
Rob, what is the smallest delta of the voltage when using your HiHat Controller input. This Honeywell at 5V input goes from approx 1,0 to 2,9V. Should be enough, because you calibrating the input so that 1,0 V is 0 and 2,8 is 1024.
Am I right, saying that a linear response is better than logarithmic. I think the most pedals have a linear dependence between pedal and cymbal movement.
