Stacking two eDRUMin together

Hi everybody!

I ordered my eDRUMin yesterday and while waiting for it to arrive I have a question: is there possibility to stack two eDRUMin devices together throw midi port, so they can act like one peace? I am asking because my drum setup doesn't fit in one module, so I plan to buy another one in the nearest future. I know that I can merge two midi inputs in one with special tool in Windows, but it would be great to have an option to use it without pc at all, for example Melodics have recently released very nice IPad app. Another reason for allowing two modules talk to each other is cross-talk cancellation.

There isn't any kind of Inter (or is that Intra?) connection between eDRUMin units. To combine them for crosstalk purposes you need to use a VST host program. Rob gave an example recently for routing the two units in Ableton so the in between crosstalk detection works. I'm going to try duplicating that in Cantabile and Reaper when I get a second unit. eDRUMin's only have USB connection so whatever you plug it into needs either a hub or a second onboard USB input

Thank you for reply. This should work, but I am going to eliminate crosstalk by connecting pads on the rack to the same eDRUMin unit, so it is not a problem for me. Also, I have checked out midi out pinout and discovered that there are no input pins there, so midi out cannot be used as midi in, therefore there is no way to connect two modules using it. From the side of microcontroller midi in and out utilize hardware serial port, which in theory may be used to connect two pieces together, but for this to happen there should be rx line routed to free pin inside midi connector.

Hey, is it possible to send the midi data from a TD11 module to the edrumin using the Midi in or USB and the edrumin sends all the data to my computer/VST? If so, how?

You can connect the TD-11 to the USB Host port of an ED10, and the ED1 will send the MIDI from both the ED10 and TD11 to your computer. This is not possible with an ED4, however, as it does not have a USB host port.

Not understanding the question. As Rob points out, you can daisy chain ED10s together using the USB host port and they'll function like a single unit. Crosstalk is handled internally, automatically. I've been using an ED10 and an ED4 together for more than a year, it's been great.

Hey, is it possible to send the midi data from a TD11 module to the edrumin using the Midi in or USB and the edrumin sends all the data to my computer/VST? If so, how?

I have a TD-17 connected to via USB cable to the USB Host port of an eDRUMin 10. The combined midi from the TD-17 and TD-11 is transmitted by the eDRUMin to my computer and VST. eDRUMin applies cross talk cancellation to the incoming mid (from TD-17). The TD-11 (and TD-17) also has 5 pin MIDI out, and only the eDRUMin 10 has a 5 pin MIDI in. At times I’ve used the 5 pin MIDI on TD-17. In all of these set ups I cannot detect any latency.

Also, since v1.6 software the eDRUMin has a couple improvements to controlling MIDI in and out. The eDRUMin will give you the ability to send USB MIDI back to TD-17. This is after xtalk cancellation has been applied. Also, xtalk cancellation can be adjusted for USB midi in, computer MIDI in, and 5 pin MIDI in.

My set up. I have some pads connected to TD-17, but the majority of pads connected to eDRUMin. All of my pads are on a rack except for a side snare, kick and HH. On TD-17 I have the USB driver set to generic so that it communicates MIDI to eDRUMin. I also have local control set to off, so the internal sounds are only triggered via incoming MIDI. I have a TD-17 user kit for eDRUMin that has no sounds, but does have the MIDI notes I want for the pads connected to TD-17. On the eDRUMin I have MIDI out being sent to the TD-17, and I have a note bank just for TD-17. So when I normally play on VST I use the note bank for EZD2 and the TD-17 kit is the empty sound user kit. Then when I want to play on the TD-17 slave module I set the TD-17 kit to whatever I want and change to eDRUMin user kit I have configured for TD-17.
