The short YouTube introduction gave me the impression that the only interface is via usb using pc software. That is pretty smart. Will there be one with enough inputs for:
1. Kick
2. Snare and Rim
3. Tom 1
4. Tom 2
5. Tom 3
6. Tom 4
7. 3 Zone Ride
8. 3 Zone Hi-Hat
9. 2 Zone Crash
10. CC4 Hi-Hat Control
Thanks

Re: No interface on the device is smart
For clarification, the Control Application is available for Windows, MacOS, and iOS.
The device has 4 trigger / Pad inputs, and 1 pedal input. The Trigger inputs are stereo, so if you have suitable adapters, you could connect 2 single zone pads to each input.
Assuming you are able to keep some isolation between pads, you could use more than one device without worry about any crosstalk issues.

Do you mean to connect two interface to have more triggers input ?

Re: No interface on the device is smart
Here's my setup. I'm using two devices. You can see them at the bottom of the pic attached to the drum frame.
The toms and kick are single zone, so I combine two of them into a single input. I hope that clears things up.
The pads in red are all connected to the main frame, so I make sure they are all connected to the same device so that there are no crosstalk issues. The pads in blue are all on stands (with the exception of the the snare) so they are isolated from the other pads. With this setup I have zero crosstalk issues. The toms and kick are single zone, so I combine two of them into a single input. I hope that clears things up.

Re: No interface on the device is smart
So two eDrumin units would suffice for I estimate 90% of electronic drumming scenarios. It would work for my 5 piece A2E kit and ride, crash1, crash2 and hi-hat and percussion block
Re: No interface on the device is smart
One last note on this. I actually noticed that my snare which is attached to the main drum frame was occasionally triggering one of my cymbals when I hit the rim hard. To fix this issue, within Ableton Live, I created an empty MIDI track to route the MIDI from the 'blue' eDRUMin into the 'red' eDRUMin. The devices monitor their USB MIDI in and apply crosstalk based on any notes that arrive. In this way, one device can be aware of what's going on in the other.

Hi Rob,
I wonder if in a hardware revision you could add a minijack midi port that could act as a daisychain link between multiple units for crosstalk purposes?
That aside I hope this is successful and you see a market for a unit with say 20 inputs

This is interesting, I'll have to dig into Ardour DAW and see what the options are. Hmm I wonder if using multiple midi inputs within SD3 has cross talk supression or if you need the full DAW for that.Rob wrote:One last note on this. SD3 wouldn't do that. In fact it would be really bad if it did. It would prevent you from playing a hard and a soft note on two different pads at the same time.

Re: Using 2 eDRUMin devices at the same time
Hi Rob
Just wanted to check on usage when using splitters for single zone triggers. My understanding is that if a splitter is used for an input, then the triggers connected to that input (via the splitter) cannot be played simultaneously, is this correct?
Is the bell sense function only available for Roland cymbals? Will I need to continue to use 2 inputs for the cymbal if it is a non-roland cymbal that requires separate bell, bow/edge inputs (e.g. ATV, or DIY, JMAN triggers etc.) ?
