I thought I had read about this before, but can't seem to find the thread...
I have my rig working fine for the most part in SD3 stand alone, the Cymbals all choke fine. (lemon cymbals)
I've been switching to Ableton to use the VST and record and the choke has disappeared. How do I get this back?
Thanks!
Choke gone in Ableton
Re: Choke gone in Ableton
If you search 'Ableton' in the user manual, you'll come up to the section about note length.. I'd send you a link but I'm out of the house at the moment.
Re: Choke gone in Ableton
So I need to adjust the note length, I don't see anything in the manual if I search for the words length or gate (time) to change it???
EDIT: I found Note Length in the software, all my cymbals are set to .003, they need to be set to 5.0? (I tried setting them to 5.0 and it didn't make a difference)
Re: Choke gone in Ableton
Ableton Live requires that the aftertouch messages arrive between the note on and note off event. So if you set the note length to 2s, you'll be able to choke the note within 2s of hitting the cymbal.

So I set all my cymbals to 2 sec and still get no choke in Ableton???Rob wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:52 pmNote Length

Am I missing a step?
Here is what some of my cymbal settings look like in ED:
Note the 13 inch crash keeps resetting to .003
Re: Choke gone in Ableton
OK, so I turned off MPE and Track in the Ableton settings for the eDRUMin and got the choke working!
(not sure what track is for?)

Re: Choke gone in Ableton
I think you need to to keep 'Track' enabled, but MPE should definitely be off.
