Kick eats ride hits

Post by breakthewall »

Hi there,

I encounter an issue on my edrumin fed by an Alesis Surge: when I play the kick, it eats the hit I play on the ride. I can observe the same behavior sometimes on crash cymbals. I have more than the latest version (!) and crosstalk settings don't change anything. Of note, the kick appears only on the left channel on eDrumin.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Best,
Joan

There's an additional crosstalk control for devices connected via the host port. You can read about it on page 46 of the manual.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your reply. I don't find any info on crosstalk at page 46 of the manual. In addition, I didn't understand why you mention the host port but I realized that I forgot to mention that I have plugged pads directly on trigger ports and not through the Alesis Surge module, which is unplugged.

Well, then I'm not understanding the problem. Both the kick and ride are plugged into the eDRUMin, correct? What are you using to generate your sounds?

I use SD3, and I choose this "profile" in edrumin app.

Okay. Can you please post screenshots for your setting in eDRUMin for your kick and ride? Also, what firmware version are you using?

So if you turn the xtalk control for the ride all the way down, it still get's 'eaten'? What make of cymbal is that? The amount of gain you are using is really high--that's what I might expect for a Yamaha cymbal.

Nope, stock Alesis cymbals.

You asked me to turn xcross control all the way down, well... how to say that I'm the kind of guy very confortable with gear, technology and IT and I already tested almost everything to tackle this issue... but turning down to 0 this xcross knob. And it is a fact that neither my ride nor crash cymbals miss a single hit now.

Thank you so much!!!!!
