Connect Midi Expression to my digital piano

Post by Tradivarius1994 »

Hi,

I just bought a midi expression usb device to connect a Roland sustain pedal to my computer and then send the ''sustain MIDI signal'' from my computer to my Digital Piano ( Casio PX-730). However, the MIDI signal seems to reach the Midi Expression USB device (I see the pedal moving on the MIDI Expression Control Software) but the signal doesn't seem to reach my piano. I hear no sustain...

On my digital piano, there is only a USB port to connect it to the USB port of my computer. I don't know if I have the right cable or if the problem is something else. Can you help me please?

Hi Guillaume,

Are you using your Casio to play a virtual instrument on your computer or are you wanting to use the Casio as the sound generator?

If it's the latter (my assumption), then you will need to route the MIDI from the MIDI Expression to your Casio. Can you tell me more about your setup?

Regards,

Hi Rob,

Yes I want to use my Casio Piano as a sound generator.

Actually, I connected the Midi Expression to my computer with the USB cable that came with it. And then I connected my sustain pedal into the jack input of the MIDI Expression Device. My Casio Piano is connected via another USB cable to another USB port on my computer.

I guess there's something wrong with my setup.
