Newbie - general advice on edrum conversion

Post by iainp999 »

Hi all,

I have a Tama Club Jam that doesn't really get much use, and I am giving serious thought to fitting triggers and using it with my edrumin.

I've never tackled this before, so looking for any hints and tips that might help?

I'd prefer not to drill holes if possible, so looking at something like a Drum-Tec Groove Bar https://www.drum-tec.co.uk/drum-tec-groovebar-kick.

Any advice appreciated!

(FWIW I already have a drum-tec snare, so no work needed in that area - it'd be kick, high tom, floor tom).

I don't have experience, but that bar seems pretty expensive to me.
It all depends on how much you want to DIY and if you want to save some $ I guess, but for comparison: I ordered a replacement cone and piezo from an official Roland dealer for about 35,- and I expect a jack connector will be pretty cheap as well.

I just saw this post, about 2.5 months after you posted it. Are you still looking for advice? I have done two A to E conversions and have learned many things that go into an affordable set up that performs well. If you're interested, let me know and I'll be glad to share what I know
