GeoDrum Cymbals DIY Conversion Kits Compatibility

Post by honeyPot »

Hi everyone,

I saw some posts here about DIY makers using membranes from the GeoDrum company on eBay but I didn't found if someone has tested or use currently one of :

- Their cymbals convertion kits :
https://www.ebay.fr/itm/225772491377?ha ... Swz91lAups

- Their hihat bottom controllers (pedal input) :
https://www.ebay.com/itm/224399557551?h ... ilhZjPT<

I plan to change all my cymbals rubber pads for low volume cymbals mounted with theses kits but after some message exchanges with the company, they told me that they dont know eDrumin devices, that they are not sure that it will work with and that they don't have any electronic schemes or any cable schemes of their devices to give me to do some comparisons.

Has anyone tried theses ones with eDrumin, does it works with and are they good?

Thanks in advance !

It'll work, but rubber cymbals are always going to perform better than metal cymbals--especially on an eDRUMin which if more sensitive to high frequencies than other modules.

OK, thanks a lot for your answer Rob!

Could you give me more informations why the rubber will be better? And why especially with edrumin?

Initially I wanted to buy Zeitgeist metal pad / trigger from drum-tec which look great but more expensive and less fun to buy already built than doing it by myself.

I wanted to use low cymbals volume and these kits to have the closest feel from a real drum that's why I turned myself to this type of pads.

Rubber cymbals absorb high frequencies much better than metal. It doesn't matter which module you use, you'll get more consistent and dynamic performance using rubber cymbals.

Ok, after some research yes, there's pros and cons but that looks pretty good to me in this video :

Is there something to do or to avoid to have the best results ? I saw that the edrumin has on is software a config for the metal cymbal
