Choking with midi note

Post by loverchese »

In the manual it states "the device allows you to specify a MIDI Note for choking your cymbal in
addition to sending aftertouch messages" I cant seem to figure out how to activate this functionality, can someone give me a pointer? Aftertouch is lighting up properly but clicking on the choke on the edrumin interface doesnt do anything

What application or hardware are you using to make your sounds? Ideally you would simply select the appropriate drum map and the eDRUMin would automatically send the note instead of aftertouch.

I have the edrumin hooked up into my PC, im using FL studio as my DAW, and ezdrummer 3 as my VST. Focusrite scarlett audio interface if that matters

However when looking at midi event history in my DAW it is able to detect the aftertouch messages however it does not detect any midi note upon choking the cymbal

I'm pretty sure EZDrummer uses aftertouch to choke cymbals, so I'm not entirely sure why you want to change that behavior.

However if you still want to change it to send notes, you'll need to set the ride to 'Custom Notes' as described in the manual. And if you keep reading to the next page, the section entitled CHOKE will tell how to enable choking with notes.
