eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA

Post by Rob »

eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA is now available. The focus of this version is to improve positional sensing support for 'mesh pads with 3 side sensors' as well as to patch a few bugs in version 2.2 You can downgrade from this version to 2.1 or 2.2 without losing your settings.

The positional sensing has been reworked to support both my ATV AD-S13 snare and Roland PDA-120LS, and I would love to here some feedback about how well it works with other pads as well. Here is a link to information about how the controls work.

Mesh 3 Side Sensors - Positional Sensing

Improvements
  • Reworked positional sensing for 3-cone pads.
  • Added ATV AS-S13 Snare preset.
  • Added a velocity indicator to the velocity curve control.
  • Improved mouse handling in rimshot range control.
  • Flash Presets can be loaded with program change messages. (Channel 14, programs 1-32)
  • Having no inputs selected in the load settings for a device snapshot is now equivalent to having all inputs selected.
  • Pressing enter when entering preset title, description, or author will trigger 'save'.
  • Pedal Sense control has been integrated into the pedal type selector and is now off by default.
  • Updated several factory presets.
Bug Fixes since version 2.2
  • Hihat calibration not taking immediate affect.
  • Fixed note banks not accessible if pad is set as hihat cymbal.
  • Fixed issue synchronizing hihat cymbal / pedal bank changes.
  • Fixed cymbal position type not being set when loading trigger presets.
  • Fixed broken Lemon 18" Ride preset.
  • Fixed a small triggering issue with center pointed piezos.
Changes since version 2.3.0.6
  • Fixed support for Yamaha 3-zone pads / cymbals on ED8.
  • Hihat improvements when performing 'hihat barks'.
  • Fix MacOS installer issue.
  • Removed 'hub' warning.
  • Improvements to the SteadyHats feature.

So, whenever it comes VST drumming or trigger2MIDI interfaces I try to promote your outstanding work!
Lately, I the YouTube drummer 66Samus said, the DDrum DDTI trigger interface is the most affordable drum trigger.
Nope!

Changes in build 1
  • Added digital lowpass filter for cymbal type inputs.*
  • Added a velocity indicator to the Velocity Curve control.
*not available on first generation ED4. I designed this control to tame high frequencies on my VH-13, but it would also help out on metal cymbals and other cymbals that lack sufficient dampening. The control indicates the amount of filtering happening. Using the lowpass filter introduces a small amount of latency proportion to the amount of filtering.

Oh boy. Can't wait to try this on my LV cymbals. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it does!

Hey Rob. Any chance you could make the gain go below 1? That would help tame
hotter sensors. I assume not since you probably would have done that already.

No chance, however you'll notice that applying the lowpass filter in many cases reduces the effective signal level.

I figured you would have done it already but never hurts to ask. I'll try out the low pass filter with my cymbals. Funny because I just moved my crashes to an ED4 Revision 3 or 4 from the original one and they seem much hotter so I was going to add some physical dampening in the form of butyl tape in-between the piezo case and the cymbal. But then you come out with this new feature today! I'll try this first to see the difference it makes before trying a physical dampening material. Thanks so much for your continued effort to improve amazing product.

I'm not seeing the control for the low pass filter. Am I missing something?

It's stuck behind the piezo / switch button. Opps. Maybe change to another cymbal type, turn it on, and then go back to metal cymbal.

I thought that might be it. I'll try that.
