So lately I have a weird hot spot issue I have a DUI snare with the head trigger center mounted .. and the rim mounted under the center trigger I have not had too many issues in the past but lately when playing a on a song and hitting the snare drum the exact same place and velocity .. then all of a sudden a few hits will hot spot .. the a few more till eventually no matter where I hit the drum it's at full velocity & volume .. and is super sensitive.. I tried to use the hot spot eliminator in the edrummin software .. but that does not seem to do anything at all .. I do enjoy the position sensing so I'm scratching my head here..
I tried new piezo's new foams (cones and tubes) ,tightening the head and loosening the head .. my kit has 7 toms and they all are working correctly
no abnormal hot spotting
if its because I am using a dyi snare I will buy something different does anyone have any suggestions to a good snare that will not hotspot.. and still allows for Position sensing?
I was thing about trying this configuration .. but would i still be able to use the position sensing?
P.S. this snare has always been a little odd when setting up the P.S. being if I hit the drum in the center the line indicator will resister to the far right and as I hit further towards the rim the indicator moves left .Unlike the videos I have seen which is opposite .. I never could figure it out but it still seemed to work pretty good. and just ignored it .. but now this is different .
should I try something like this? Mark Norton design??

Tell that snare to lay off the booze
All kidding aside, I'm getting a little bit of hotspotting with my UFO center mounted piezo snare. Since I'm in "learn covers" mode I've just adjusted to playing a little off center. One of these days I'll fine tune it again. A few years back it wasn't doing it all after calibration and adjustment.
Re: weird hot spot issue
Thanks for the replay .. I have been playing off center but then in the middle of playing its like something electrical changes and all of a sudden any place on the pad jumps to 1000 sensitivity .. and I have the software open and can see it while I play and nothing changes on the screen
picture it like this your strumming a guitar the same riff over and over and some one sneaks up and turns up the gain (or volume) to 10 but you have not changed anything .. then even if you touch the drum very lightly with your fingers it sounds full volume.. like as if what ever regulates the sensitivity freaks out or shuts off. I have not changed my drumming but lately this has been happening a lot.. I'm thinking about getting a new snare to rule out the DYI factor.. what drum is everyone using that seems to work the best?

Re: weird hot spot issue
If you think the issue is with eDRUMin or your snare, then it'll show up in the eDRUMin MIDI Monitor. When you experience the problem again, open the MIDI monitor and check the velocities of the notes, take a screenshot and post it here.
I suspect the issue is in SD3. I think you are somehow sending a MIDI CC that is controlling the SD3 master volume or something like that.

Re: weird hot spot issue
ok I can try that i didn't know I could control the volume with midi .. Ill try today .. Still going to go with Roland though .. not sure which is the BEST one to get the 125 or 128 .. all the posts I read says they are the same drum but the hotspot magic is how the drum module works with them not how the drum is built they are the same mostly cosmetic.. if they are wrong and it is the drums will that same magic work with the Edummin?
