one module or 2?

Post by Ronyd »

Just ordered one module.

Currently I have my drum 2up to down and double connected to my Yamaha EAD-10.

Will use the edrumin-4 for the cymbals.

If i want to also use the edrumin-4 module, even splitting the inputs, should I think about purchasing another edrumin4 to handle the drums?

Using a single ED4 for an entire kit would be limiting. 8 mono inputs and a HH controller. Due to beauty of eDRUMin those 8 inputs can be dual zone pads (with some limitations).

Before the ED10 many drummers used multiple ED4s for an entire kit with great success.

I have an ED10 and two ED4s, but for a smaller kit 2 ED4s would be more than enough. The main limitation of splitting an input for a snare drum is a split input is only two zones (head and edge sense) with no rimshot. I believe using a split input for a cymbal you lose cymbal chokes, but you keep edge sense and bell sense so that’s pretty good.
