Let's start with the basics. With the eDRUMin control application open. When you hit pads, can you see movement in the eDRUMin software?

This is the picture you are looking for minus the USB hub and the ED4. Plug the TD17 directly into the ED10 Host port and then ED10 to the computer. Then it is computer to the UMC404 interface. Select the ED10 as MIDI input in AD and UMC404 as MIDI Output. You may need a MIDI 5 pin to USB A adapter.
Why would you need the MIDI Out of the UMC404?

Tommy, as Rob mentioned, take it one step at a time to identify the problem.

1) plug pads into the eDRUMin10. Plug eDRUMin10 USB to MBP. Open the eDRUMin app. When you hit a pad, does it show on the app. You will see the hit, decay, etc... If yes, moving on.

2) open AD. Select the eDRUMin10 as MIDI in, MBP headphones as audio out. Does the hit showing in the eDRUMin app show up in AD, and do you hear sound? If yes, moving on.

3) Plug in remaining pads into your TD17, TD17 USB into eDRUMin10 USB host port. Hit a pad, does it show in AD? Do you hear it? At this point you probably will have mapping issues, where some of the MIDI notes sent from the TD17 are the same as the eDRUMin. You can always adjust those notes later, but for now, we are just checking that it can play.

4) Plug UMC404 USB into MBP. Change audio output of the MBP to the UMC404. Only that. Move headphones to the UMC404. Do you get sound as you were straight out of the MBP? If yes, you're almost there.

5) Adjust mapping for each pad. Make sure the two units are not sending the same note for different pads. I'd leave the MIDI notes from the TD17 untouched, and just change the ones from the pads connected to the eDRUMin, that'd be easier. You can also use the "Learn" function in AD for extra pads.

6) Tweak pads in the eDRUMin app for your kind of playing. Start with the "Calibrate" button, and adjust to taste. Dynamics, threshold, decay, etc....

If you get stuck along the way, at least, going step by step, you will know which setting to change so it works. Don't connect everything at once and try to figure out in that sea of mess... it won't happen.

There will be no sound at step 1.
It is just to make sure that pads are sending a signal to the eDRUMin.

Make sure the pad cable is pushed in all the way into one of the 10 numbered inputs and the pad itself, and that the USB cable is plugged into the MBP. Remember, it is the square USB port right under the 9V power port (which you don't need if you have it plugged to USB, as long as the USB port can power up accessories). Turn on the power switch on the eDRUMin device, you should see the little LEDs lighting up.

If all is well, when you open the app, you will see the window open with all inputs and buttons.
Hitting the pad will show the signal of the hit in the main window.

This step needs to be ok before moving on.

I remember a version of the MBP that had problems giving power to accessories through USB, so if the LED lights don't show up, or if you get the message that the Mac can not power up the accessory on the screen, you will have to find an external 9v power plug, or add a powered USB hub.

At the risk of insulting your intelligence you are using the correct USB port out of the eDRUMin correct? The highlighted connector is the one you want to connect to the computer.

I have all plugged in as you have said and I am still not seeing any signs of a signal at all in eDRUMin when I hit any of the pads.

I have the correct USB plugged straight into MBP too, although I myself am questioning my own intelligence at this stage...

I have attached a screenshot of eDRUMin application. I just updated the eDRUMin firmware and did a factory reset.

This is along with having AD2 Open with both UMC404 + eDRUMin Black ticked in ACTIVE MIDI INPUTS, and the TEST button making a beeping sound in my headphones.

I might actually upload a short video on YouTube to show you all exactly how I have it plugged in etc.

Many thanks for all your help guys.

Can you unplug everything from the eDRUMin except one pad, turn it off and then back on and see if you can get that one pad to show activity in the control application.

You are still jumping steps, instead of following what we wrote.

It will be very hard to help if you jump steps, like Rob said as well. Unplug everything and go one step at a time.

Also, if I may point out, it seems you have the Superior Drummer map selected, but running AD2 in your MBP.

I made a short video on how I have eDRUMin set up, hopefully this will make it easier for you to see I'm doing wrong. Many thanks.
