Status indicator light/LED eDRUMin 4

What does the status indicator on the eDRUMin 4 do? There is no actual mention of this in the manual...? I plug in the power and it doesn't light up. When I use the control software and click on the device icon, it lights up briefly. I connect to another device with 5-pin MIDI, but the light remains unlit Please explain its purpose.

It should flash once when you power up the device (that's the main function) and it also flashes when the device connects to the control application. It flashes briefly in some other cases, but there are too many specific situations to list.

Thanks for the response. It flashed thrice when I connected it to a PSA-120S and thrice when I connected it to the eDRUMin editor. I assume this is normal behavior...
