MacOS Monteray - Thinks my eD10 is an eD4 - solved

Post by AndyDavis »

I have an eDrumIn10. I was on 1.6. Unit has a stable configuration that I have played several hours this week.

Today I managed to confuse the hardware and it inverted the sense of my hi-hat pedal. Loaded the application and it thinks I have an ed4 on the 1.0 framework. This is through the same USB connection that I'm playing the whole hit and the only issue is that the HH pedal is reversed.

I connected a windows machine and everything showed up correctly.

Figuring that Apple had managed to, once again, break something that people depended on, I went ahead and updated to the 2.0 beta.

I flashed from the windows machine because that is a direct connection. Flash went OK. Switched the connection back to the mac and it connected and realized it was talking to a ed10. But the application was completely unusable (5-10 seconds to respond to clicks). From the windows machine I can do the configuration, but it's not very convenient.

But, after a couple rounds of configuring with windows and then switching to the mac to play, I tried opening the app on the mac again and it, once again, thinks I'm a 1.0 eD4.

I suspect that these problems are related, but not sure what the issue could be.

As I was typing this up, I tried something on a whim. I moved the hub connection from my Thunderbolt dock to one of the ports on the MacBookPro itself. That seemed to clear things up immediately.

There may be a more sensible explanation, but I thought I'd throw it out there on the off chance someone else finds themselves in a similar situation.
