ATV EXS5 pads

Post by DC1970 »

Does anybody else have any issue triggering really light/quiet strokes on their ATV pads? I have this problem across all 5 pads
I've set the threshold as low as I possibly can without them triggering from the noise floor. Could this be a velocity curve issue? something I don't completely understand yet that, admittedly, I need to do my homework on.

You have set the gain already? That's the only other thing I can think of that might be giving you issues. Maybe hit one of you pads off center with medium force and post a screenshot of your settings so I can see what your settings are and what the transient from the pad looks like.

Sorry, yes the gain is set so the pads trigger just above the noise floor.

I'm starting to wonder if the Edrumin was such a good idea for me. I have some mild learning difficulties that sometimes makes it very difficult for me to understand and digest information even in the simplest terms and I think I may be struggling with the software side of this a little bit.

Have you watched some of the videos? BTW, the gain control will not amplify the part of the signal that is below the thresh. Only the part that is above the thesh.

I have but may need to go through them again.
There's actually a guy on Facebook who will set up e-kits remotely (for a price) so might end up going down that route.

This is the most important video. It's really not that complicated and don't think paying someone to setup your drums remotely would be effective.

Yes- did as the video instructs but the pads don't pick up on low velocity strikes like I'd hoped. They're not terrible, they are playable, but I think they should be better. It's no doubt user error and something I probably need to spend more time in trying to get right.

You should definately have no problem picking the lightest of touxhes. It might be a mechanical problem. Are these new pads or have they been well worn? Are you using TRS cables?

Bought the kit brand new in early January and yes, using all brand new TRS leads. Don't think its pads because its the same with all of them and they worked fine with the original ATV module. I was, in fact quite surprised how well the original module triggered straight out of the box. I swear it's going to be user error and my lack of understanding of the software.
