FD-9 Connection Cable

What type of connection cable should be used with the Roland FD-9? I've seen someone say TS and someone say TRS, do both work? Do you lose any functionality with one versus the other?

Best to use TRS. But a TS cable would work, but not with the pedal sensing feature.
