I'm using Superior Drummer 3 and trying to refine my hihat controller to be as realistic as I can make it.

When I make short steps (or even slightly larger steps at low velocity), I noticed that CC values were entering SD3, but no note values. Here's an image showing my edrumin config in the foreground, and you can see SD3 in the background.
You can see the recorded travel out of and back into the green zone, but no note is sent. The threshold is really low (I've always had it set here, which has never been an issue) but I even tried pushing it right down to 1 which didn't help. I'm guessing splash settings have nothing to do with this as it's the "chick" sound I'm trying to trigger, so I haven't touched those settings.

Is there something I could modify or play around with either in edrumin config or in SD3 to have a hi-hat chick at lower speed/travel?

Adding my fast stepping and cc with hit settings.

For a multitude of reasons, eDRUMin requires that the hihat position returns to at least 70% open before a new note closed pedal can be trigger.ed You might want to consider reducing the amount of travel (real, physical, mechanical) that your hihat uses. For example, my VH-13 has less than 1cm of travel.

If I reduce the physical travel distance, would I need to make some config changes on either the edrumin software or in SD3? e.g. run a recalibration either side.

Just conscious of the fact that if I do nothing in that regard after reducing the physical travel, then SD3 will receive a more limited range of CC values.

You would want to recalibrate on the eDRUMin side. After recalibration, SD3 would see the same range of values. From a playing perspective, you'd find that subtle changes in the pressure on the hihat pedal would translate to more predictable changes in the hihat sound in SD3. I would also hesitate to make any changes to the hihat position responsiveness in both SD3 and eDRUMin. I always leave my SD3 setting at default.
